What Does Healthy Mean To You ?

WHAT DOES HEALTHY MEAN TO YOU
What does healthy mean anymore? Does it mean our bodies are functioning properly? Does it mean the absence of major life threatening diseases and illnesses? Does anyone even really care what it means??
Webster’s defines Healthy as:
health•y
ˈhelTHē/
adjective, healthier, healthiest.
1.
possessing or enjoying good health or a sound and vigorous mentality:
a healthy body; a healthy mind.
2.
pertaining to or characteristic of good health, or a sound and vigorous mind:
a healthy appearance; healthy attitudes.
3.
conducive to good health; healthful: without disease
So lets name some common diseases:
1. Diabetes
2. Obesity (20 lbs or more overweight)
3. depression
4. IBS (gas, bloating, irregularity, food sensitivities, acid indigestion, heartburn, etc…)
5. ADHD, ADD, Processing deficit, forgetfulness,
6. Thyroidism (hyper or hypo)
So are you in “Good Health”? Do you want to be in “Good Health”?
PROCESSED FOODS
Processed foods wreak havoc on your health through many ‘sneaky’ ways, such as causing you to overeat and leading to addiction
Processed foods are linked to infertility, cancer, malnutrition and obesity, as well as causing problems with your brain and mood
Unlike whole foods, which contain a mix of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, fiber and water to help you feel satisfied, processed foods stimulate dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter, making you feel artificially good even though the food lacks the nutrition your body needs
When it comes to being healthy, avoiding processed foods and replacing them with fresh foods and eating whole foods is the way to have good health.
Here is a list of popular processed foods that steal our health:
1. Shelf breads (bagels, English muffins, croissants, waffles, pancakes, etc.)
2. Hidden sugar foods (cereal bars, kashi bars, granola bars, pop tarts, etc.)
3. Fake Healthy foods (cereal, granola, low fat fruity yogurts, go gurts, sugary applesauce, sugary mixed fruit packs, fruit sticks, etc)
4. Hot dogs, lunchmeat, bologna, fake cheeses like Velveeta and most slices, chicken nuggets, etc)
5. Pasta, wheat pasta, chips, crackers, peanut butter crackers, ETC)
6. Packaged cakes, cookies, candy, gum, soda pop, danishes, doughnuts, etc)
THIS IS JUST A SMALL BASIC LIST. MOST OF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT A PROCESSED FOOD IS. SOME OF US JUST DON’T REALIZE HOM MANY WE ARE CONSUMING IN A DAY. (AND GIVING TO OUR CHILDREN!) AND THEN WE WONDER WHY WE ARE TIRED, DEPRESSED, HUNGRY ALL THE TIME, CAN’T LOSE WEIGHT, HAVE TO TAKE THYROID MEDS AND ANTI INFLAMMATORY PILLS ALL DAY LONG. WORST OF ALL, WE WONDER WHY OUR CHILD HAS TROUBLE SITTING STILL AND FOCUSSING AND EVEN PROCESSING. REALLY??? CHECK OUT THE LIST ABOVE.
Look, I’m not trying to be mean or point any fingers, I live in this country too. We are all subject to these commercials telling us fake foods are healthy and fast food is ok. I’m writing this for that person who might WANT a wake up call and realize how much poison is going into your family and yourself each day.
What makes being healthy do-able for me and my family is not this rigid “deny myself everything” mentality. It’s an idea that I truly “want” to be healthy, so I am going to, over time, make changes to get my family (and myself) into a winning “healthy” position in life. DO ALL I CAN DO TO SUCCEED AT HAVING GOOD HEALTH FOR ME AND MY FAMILY!
